2024 has been a mammoth year for Dulverton Waste Management and apologies to those we haven’t caught up with of late. Please know you are in our thoughts, and we are grateful we can work with you!
We ended the year with the 30th anniversary celebrations for our business, but that was nothing compared to the mid-year celebration of more than five years’ worth of hard work in making the Dulverton Organic Transformation treatment facility a reality.
This in-vessel processing plant for organic waste in our region was designed and built to serve not only our existing organic waste customers, but the households across the North West coast. Like all new major changes, there have been several teething issues, and we thank you, our customers, for your patience as we’ve worked through these issues.
Related to this project has been the installation of the new software on the weighbridge, and words cannot express our thanks to the many drivers who’ve worked with us during this transition period. There were times when we thought the end was nigh, but we’ve got there, and the change has been worthwhile, facilitating the tracking of materials moving around the region and allowing up to roll out improvements to help customers track their business with us from their own premises.
This year would not have been possible without the dedication of several staff, and in particular, Matt Layton, who has gone above and beyond. It was wonderful for Matt to be acknowledged for this input into our sector at the recent Regional Development Australia (Tasmania) Awards, where he was acknowledged for his contribution to the circular economy and sustainability.
There have been some changes in our staffing as well. With Ashlee and Kerry leaving the organization, and Emma, Cathy and Barry joining the business since this time last year. As we work through planning for the future of the business, Lisa and Salem are supporting us on a short term basis. It was great to have Manfred back with us leading the delivery of the bin assessment program, helping the community to make the most of the new FOGO bin.
We also have two new directors coming on board. We’re very excited to welcome Ms Heather McCallum and Dr Philippa Sims to work with Board Chair Paul West, Director Chris Badger and Director John Drew and we farewelled long term Director Ken Clarke and Director Cameron Simpkins in November.
The end of the year is always a time to reflect and a time to remember what is truly important; our families, our health, and the luxury of having a job that makes a contribution every day. For these things, I’m truly grateful.
Best wishes. Veronica
